I believe that the greatest challenge for the future lies with the evangelization of those living in the rural areas.

According to the World Bank regional reports in 1990, out of a population of 527 million, the urban population was 149 million or 28%. It is projected by the same report that by the year 2010, of the estimated 937 million people, the urban population will be 387 million or 41%. These are staggering statistics in light of the fact that more than 90% of all evangelistic effort today is aimed at only one third of the people living on the continent of Africa.
It really impacted me when I met with church leaders from various African countries and I began to realize that within the local churches in their countries, there was no significant evangelism taking place in the rural areas. The programme we have developed is dynamic. We have spent many years training evangelists and have developed three teams who will penetrate three countries in 2008, being Kenya, Tanzania and DRC.

Feedback from a Rural Gospel Outreach held in Kisiwani in 2007
In total about 3000 people attended the outreach and more than 500 people gave their lives to Christ. Many were healed and received their miracles. This number may seem small compared to the multitudes we are used to seeing in citywide gospel outreaches but the most amazing thing is that the whole of Kisiwani was very excited about the outreach. The Pastors who worked with us were overjoyed with Jesus Alive Ministries' new Gospel Outreach strategy and our presence. After the outreach we had follow-up seminars and there was a large increase of new believers who attended. They are now waiting for the establishment of a CDP centre to continue with the teachings.
